YOU – the making of DVD
$25 4 disc DVD box set 163g
An individual copy of YOU is a humble thing, usually just a single page, photocopied letter folded up in a brown paper bag with the word YOU stamped on the front. But the work that goes into ensuring that an issue of YOU meets its weekly deadline is epic. This four DVD box set documents in real time the conception, construction and distribution of a single issue of YOU. It really brings home the fact that as well as being a zine YOU is a hugely complicated, multi-medium art project to blow your mind. It encompasses writing, printmaking, conceptual art, zine making and, as the DVD shows, endurance art.

Syd Terminal – Music for Raising Sydenham Swamp
$4 CD-R 33g
Music for Raising Sydenham Swamp is a soundtrack for an area near Marrickville in Sydney that was once called Gumbramorra or the Gumbramorra Swamp, and which, after it was found to be prone to floods and therefore unsuitable for housing, became one of Sydney’s first industrial areas and was eventually dregded. This CD by Syd Terminal is music composed on a computer that evokes the lost swamp and imagines what it would be like for it to rise again. It’s music composed out of a fair degree of anger and despair at Sydney’s rising rent prices and culture of development greed. Syd writes about a lot of those issues in his zine Hole in the Ground, and you can listen to this CD almost as an accompaniment to that zine. Also features artwork by Inga West.
