Well, long time no blog update! We’ve been rebuilding our mail order site, and it’s now ready for your perusal:
This website is built by us in Adobe Muse, and it’s a work in progress. Rather than put everything we have in stock up all at once – which would be incredibly time consuming – we’re adding things gradually on a weekly or fortnightly basis. You’ll find entirely new zines as well as Take Care staples like Huffin’ Textas, The Refugee Art Project zines, and of course free zines, which now have a page all to themselves! The free zines are by far the most popular items that we stock, and we have no problem with that! Our mission is to distribute zines that are conceptually rich and exciting and if they happen to be free then all the better! So yep, check out the Free zines page, if you order you’ll just have to pay for postage.
Oh yeah, and happy 2017! Make sure you follow us on Facebook and Instagram too, for regular updates!
Yep, you’ll notice that quite a bit of stuff has sold out in the online shop – don’t panic, we’re in the process of doing a stock take and putting some new stuff up! Thanks for all the orders, keep ’em coming…
Come along to Verge Gallery this Saturday for a day of zine related fun, including a mini zine fair, YOU zine-making marathon, DISCOnference (discussion on zines), and live performances from Ideal Type, Plastic Knife and the Newport Dolls!
Full program at secondcirculation.tumlr.com.
It’s happening again! Do as the the flyer says, save the date(s), and apply for a table by filling in this form by 22 March!
Also, I’ve done a quick tidy up of the mail order. All of the Refugee Art Project zines are now BACK IN STOCK. Probably won’t be long until they sell out again, so get in quick if you’ve been hanging out for them.
We had a fantastique time at Festival of the Photocopier in February, too. Giant thanks to our friends at Sticky for all their efforts. Here’s a shot of some of the zines I picked up at the fair:
Our friends at Jitter Records host the inaugural Jitter Fest next Sunday in Sydney! The dress up theme is punk rock xmas: how can you resist?
Speaking of XMAS: the following weekend – Sunday 14 December – we’ll once again open the doors to our secret headquarters – Junior Gazette – for a zine open day so you can get all the zines you want from the Take Care stable, sans postage. More details to come, stay tuned!
Hello, finally found the time and head-space to do a bit of long overdue shop-site retuning. We have added descriptions to some of the zines that have been languishing, undescribed, for the past month, including the Refugee Art Project Zines, The Good Son, I am a Camera #17, La Petite Mort, The Time You Were in Paris and The Nostalgia Prescription.
The aim is to have all the descriptions updated before adding any more new zines, of which, as aforementioned, we have many. And many and many.
While I’m here, let me tell you that we will be at this zine fair, next weekend!
Organised by the City of Sydney with the aid of the estimable Nicholas Beckett, we hope to see you there!
